A nook and a spawn
In preparation for the cozy season ahead — and making the most of a relentlessly stormy day — we decided to tackle a small but meaningful project: converting a void in the eaves of the “Garden Room” into a cubby for the kids. We knew our own little ones would be thrilled to have a special nook all their own, and we figured future guests would appreciate in it just as much. This little cubby already feels like it’s brimming with stories waiting to be made.
Another truly special highlight of this late fall was the release of 100 salmon spawns into our creek by a local elementary school! Watching them make their way into the water was a beautiful reminder of the cycles of life, the magic of this land, and how much joy comes from being able to nurture and witness nature in action. Even cooler is that the salmon should return to this spot each year to spawn - what an honor!
