Snowfall, sauna, and unwelcome shower surprise
With spring on the horizon and a goal to go live on Airbnb by early June, it was officially pedal to the metal to get everything finished in time. Every weekend was a full-on work marathon — laboring from dawn until we crashed — with every spare midweek moment squeezed in wherever we could. Thankfully, Patrick’s brother Mike and his daughter Jo were in it with us, and we couldn’t have done it without their help.
These past few weeks have been a blur of progress and problem-solving: battling a decades-old mice infestation, sealing up some plumbing leaks, setting the tub in the upstairs bathroom, and making some headway on the sauna. Each small victory inched us closer…
But of course, surprise setbacks have become par for the course... This time, it came in the form of crumbling concrete in the downstairs shower. It turned out there had been a long-standing leak beneath the tile — and while we had already planned to replace the tile, we hadn’t budgeted (or scheduled) for a full concrete demo and re-pour. So just as the February snow storm melted, the concrete demo began, and another item was added to the list.
But gosh, this place is stunningly beautiful in a coat of white snow.
