A new routine

While we’re thrilled that our weekends are quickly filling up with paying guests, it also means we have to cram all of our projects - and our fun - into the fleeting summer weekdays.

With nearly all of the big projects finally behind us, we’re starting to find time for the little things. I’ve been filling mine taking photos of all the new-to-me plants - this being our first summer here, every new bloom is a thrill, and I’m soaking up the lessons this land is teaching me.

Patrick, meanwhile, is sneaking in a few finishing touches: moving the big old truck off the patio and hanging some old doug fir strips in the ceiling of the ‘Garden Room.’

The kids, for their part, have been cleaning out old birdhouses and building new ones, and making plenty of new friends. This week’s critters include a bullfrog, a baby bunny, a millipede, a few dead ones - a huge fish dropped by a passing eagle, and a petrified squirrel. Around here, there’s never a dull moment.
