It’s hard to believe we’ve been at this for 10 months. Between full-time jobs, two little kids, and very little help, we took on a project far beyond our skillset or bandwidth — and somehow, it’s actually coming together. As two people who rarely pause to pat ourselves on the back, this one does deserve a moment: it’s remarkable how much we’ve managed to accomplish.
Our Airbnb launch went even better than we’d hoped, but that just means a few short weeks to get everything polished and ready for our first guests. Every detail matters from landscaping to linens… and it’s now that we are reminded that this is SEVEN ACRES…
And, of course, along the way we pause to see this adventure through the kids’ eyes. Every corner sparks wide-eyed wonder: catching snakes & salamanders, naked puddle-jumping, witnessing the circle of life... Their excitement is exhausting, messy, hilarious - and thankfully, contagious. It reminds us why we started this wild project in the first place.
So yes, we’re sore, tired, and covered in dirt, paint, and who-knows-what. But I’m thankful that amongst all the hard work, there is so much joy, and curiosity, and love. And Patrick and I are quietly proud of a year that feels impossible to forget.
