Bar West Farmstead Field Trip!

My worlds finally came together this month when the team from my restaurant, Bar West, came out to the Farmstead for a sweet afternoon of pizza-making and wandering the land. What a joy it was to spend the day with these lovely humans — the ones I’m lucky enough to work alongside day after day — but this time, with no tickets printing, no rush, and no noise other than laughter, wind, and the crackle of the pizza oven.

We rolled dough out on the big outdoor table, loaded it up with farm-fresh toppings, and took turns tending to the pies while others explored the property, glasses in hand. Watching everyone settle into the pace of this place — slowing down, taking in the views, breathing a little deeper — filled me up in a way I didn’t quite expect.

It was also the start of something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time: connecting what we grow here at the Farmstead to what we serve at West. The idea that herbs, produce, or flowers from this land could make their way onto the plates and into the cocktails at the restaurant feels like the most natural next step — a full-circle connection between two parts of my world that I love deeply.

The seed has officially been planted — literally and figuratively — and I can’t wait to see how it grows.
